What is hot Forrest Yoga?

Forrest Yoga as it should be taught- with small classes and a roaring hot room!

Forrest Yoga as a style of Yoga is meant to be held in classes warmed up to 30°C, but the climate in the North East of the UK and the expense of heating up space makes many studios sacrifice heat for profit. I’ve taught in professional studios trying to raise the temperature of the building by burning candles, and studios with gaps around the windows that let the wind howl in.

Not at Gosforth Physio & Wellness: the studio room is internal, surrounded by other rooms that help insulate it, and the double glazed roof seals the heat in perfectly. That way we can easily raise the temperature without having to pass the cost on to you, the student.

What’s so great about Hot Yoga? The heat means that the tissues of your body are more easily stretched, and that they retain length after practising yoga more readily – so the impact of your practice is stronger. Increased blood flow improves flow of nutrients and removal of waste products from the muscles, meaning you have improved performance (both strength and stamina) during your practice. There is also an increased range of motion as a result of increased fluidity of synovial fluid in the joint capsules, helping to alleviate discomfort or stiffness originating from the joint. And how does it feel being physically active in a hot room for the length of the practice? Well that’s another dimension to the challenge of Yoga!

Class sizes are restricted to a maximum of 10 people per class, so every time you join me on the mat you know you’ll get the best attention to help you progress faster, safely. With a small group I can easily help address your individual needs in the class, tailoring your practice to help you.

And the Yoga is still the same style and quality my students have come to expect in Newcastle over the last 5 Years of me teaching Forrest Yoga, with a challenge to stimulate strength, stamina and flexibility every time, pushing you beyond what you believe is possible.
