What is Forrest Yoga?
Forrest Yoga is a modern style of Yoga created by Ana Forrest. It takes the useful aspects of Yoga and modifies poses to reflect current knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, the true impact of alignment and how we can use Yoga effectively to achieve the most from every practice in a host of different ways. Yoga is an ancient form of connecting mind, body and spirit – Forrest Yoga respects that lineage, while adapting Yoga to meet the needs of modern life, helping students (and teachers) to achieve more through Yoga at an accelerated pace.
For me Forrest Yoga is a great way to enjoy myself, explore my physical limits and challenge myself mentally: I love that I will never reach the end of the Yoga path; every time I practice there’s something new to discover and explore. I carry my love for Yoga into my teaching, helping both beginners and advanced students to choose to find pleasure in their practice and in themselves, to honour their limitations while looking to test them.
Each class is unique, both in the sequence of poses but also in the way we approach class (the intent). This means students never get tired of Yoga, and I never get tired of teaching the same class every time.
I use my skills as a Forrest Yoga teacher to help others to connect to their bodies, including those undergoing (or recovering from) treatment for Cancer. I also teach a donation based class to open Yoga up to everyone – because every person can benefit from Forrest Yoga whatever their background.
The classes I teach in gyms tend to be more geared towards the physical practice of Yoga, however in combination with my classes and an ongoing series about Forrest Yoga and the Philosophy of Yoga I use my public classes to help students to explore the meaning of Yoga.
